Night Festival 2012

Night Festival 2012 is a nocturnal extravaganza of spectacular aerial performance, music, dance and installation artworks at the heart of Bras Basah-Bugis precinct, Singapore’s art and heritage district.

Circus Swingapore — aerial performance.

Tarian Hati — a contemporary dance blending traditional dance drama, folk mask dance incorporated with a 100 year old gurindam (poetic verses by Raja Ali Haji).

Bhangra Dance.

Shuffling LED Lion Dance — high energy shuffling lion grooving to current dance moves.

The Tabla Man and The Umbrella Man — showcasing Singapore’s own artists in a unique show.

“Gangnam Style” dance.

We The People (by Brian Gothong Tan) — a stunning visual feast that will bring audiences on a colorful and surreal journey by combining film, motion graphics and experimental animation.

Corredoras — two elegent dancers appear, somersaulting and diving at immense speed, like dandelion seeds in the wind, while the curtain shimmers in blue and purple lights.

Mylar — a translucent 15m pool suspended high overhead will slowly descend to fingertip level. Coloured light imbue the scene with ever-changing hues and tints as a rippling puddle of water ceaselessly sloshes across the pool’s see-through bottom. Four dancers slip and slide in rapturous motion inches above your heads. A sensous, unearthly, nearly hallucinatory experince.

La Argentina — a crane holds aloft a dancer of athletic proportions while musicians pound and strum on a variety of exotic instruments. This scene brings the audineces to Buenos Aires in 2010, during the celebration of the Bicentenary of the Argentinean Independencce.
